Recommended for a reviewed code-to-release workflow

This is a scoped recommendation for the use case shown, not a universal optimum or an installed integration.

Core architecture

| Layer | Component | Role | | --- | --- | --- | | Input | Issue / brief | Expected behavior • acceptance checks | | Input | Working branch | Scoped code • readable commits | | Input | Project checks | Build • tests • lint configuration | | Core | GitHub | Version code • discuss changes • open PRs | | Quality gate | Pull request review | Diff • check results • release readiness | | Output | Merged source | Keep an approved version on main | | Output | Vercel preview | Inspect the deployed application |

Connection labels

1. Push a branch and open a pull request 2. Review the diff and required check results 3. Merge or release through the approved workflow

Blue lines indicate manual/local workflow steps. Purple dashed lines indicate a separately configured connection, which may include human gates; they are not claims that the entire path is unattended. Orange indicates review/refinement. Core diagram mode: configured.

Supporting tools

  • VS Code / Git: Edit code and make local checkpoints.
  • GitHub Actions: Run configured repository checks.
  • Vercel: Build previews from the Git connection.

What to check

  • Diff scope: Exclude unrelated files and secrets.
  • Check status: Resolve failures without bypassing rules.
  • Deployment identity: Verify the URL serves the right commit.

Optional extension

  • Pull request: Emit a repo event
  • Actions runner: Load the workflow
  • Build & tests: Check the change
  • Review gate: Approve the release
  • Vercel: Deploy the commit

Configured CI/CD path: repository events, workflow YAML, permissions, secrets, and hosting integration must be set up. A green build does not replace reviewing the live behavior.

Lean starter

GitHub + Git/editor + the project's existing checks. Add a deployment service only when a runnable app needs hosting.

Example

Scoped change → pull request → passing checks → review → merge → verify the deployment.
