Recommended for an inspectable repository-to-PR workflow

This is a scoped recommendation for the use case shown, not a universal optimum or an installed integration.

Core architecture

| Layer | Component | Role | | --- | --- | --- | | Input | Repository files | Current code • branch • changes | | Input | AGENTS.md | Project conventions • check commands | | Input | Task definition | Scope • acceptance criteria • limits | | Core | Codex | Investigate • implement • use permitted tools | | Quality gate | Diff & behavior review | Relevant checks • scope • preview result | | Output | Git checkpoint | Keep an auditable change | | Output | PR / release candidate | Present verified work for approval |

Connection labels

1. Open the correct project and supply the task 2. Inspect edits and actual validation evidence 3. Keep or submit the reviewed implementation

Blue lines indicate manual/local workflow steps. Purple dashed lines indicate a separately configured connection, which may include human gates; they are not claims that the entire path is unattended. Orange indicates review/refinement. Core diagram mode: manual.

Supporting tools

  • Git: Create checkpoints and inspect diffs.
  • Project tools: Build and test with installed commands.
  • Browser / preview: Verify the user-visible behavior.

What to check

  • Repository identity: Confirm the folder, branch, and status.
  • Action access: Inspect permissions before broad actions.
  • Completion proof: Check the actual behavior and results.

Optional extension

  • Task / issue: Define acceptance
  • Codex environment: Load project context
  • Allowed tools: Implement the change
  • Checks & review: Inspect the evidence
  • GitHub PR: Request review

Optional connected task workflow. Local and cloud environments need their own repository access, dependencies, and secrets. Instructions alone do not grant tool permission or production release access.

Lean starter

Codex + Git + the project's build and test tools. Add skills only where they save repeated work.

Example

Inspect source → make a small UI correction → run the relevant checks → inspect a preview → prepare the reviewable diff.
