1. Set the stage
Start in the official Runway web app with one short shot. Pick a mode whose required inputs and credit cost you understand.
1. Open the web workspace
Sign in at app.runwayml.com using a supported browser. Check the generation tools and current allowance available to your workspace.
2. Choose the right mode
Select video generation and an available model. If it requires an image, upload an authorized first frame in the intended ratio.
3. Describe one clear action
Focus on subject movement, camera motion, and pacing. Start with a simple short shot rather than several conflicting events.
4. Inspect & download
Generate a test, watch the full clip, and inspect unstable details. Save the selected result and import it into your editor before building a longer sequence.

Arrows in the visual sheet show the order of work. External connections require separate setup. Optional tools may be replaced with ones you already use. This is a suggested stack for this task, not a universal optimum.
Treat each shot as a unit
Keep a subject, action, and camera intention per shot. Build the sequence in an editor instead of relying on one oversized prompt.
Test before scaling up
Use a small test and change one variable. Increase quality or upscale only after composition and motion are acceptable.
3. First practice task
Create a short shot of a brass instrument on a teal desk with one slow camera push. Keep the instrument stable, lighting consistent, and the background uncluttered. Use no text.
Your setup is working when
The downloaded clip plays correctly, the subject stays coherent, and the motion supports the intended edit without distracting artifacts.
Troubleshooting
Distortion? Simplify motion. Wrong framing? Check the input ratio. Missing mode? Check model requirements and workspace access.
