Turn a work question into a draft using the account and tools you have.

BEGINNER / ACCOUNT-AWARE SETUP

1. Set the stage

Personal Copilot and Microsoft 365 work experiences differ. Start with the official entry point and do not assume a personal account can read company files.

1. Choose the right account

Visit Microsoft's Copilot page and open the offered chat experience. Use your personal account or your organization-approved work account as appropriate.

2. Check what is available

Review the visible tools and account access. A Microsoft 365 work feature may require the right license and administrator configuration.

3. Give a bounded task

Supply the text or permitted context, audience, and desired format. Ask it to identify assumptions rather than invent business details.

4. Review & save

Check the output, request a revision, and keep the approved version in the intended document. Verify any claimed file or app action actually occurred.

2. Lean working stack

| Stage | Role | | --- | --- | | Copilot | Draft & explain | | Word or notes | Edit the output | | Source material | Verify details | | Human review | Approve use |

Arrows in the visual sheet show the order of work. External connections require separate setup. Optional tools may be replaced with ones you already use. This is a suggested stack for this task, not a universal optimum.

Keep access explicit

Sign-in is not permission to access every organizational file. Check the connected data and sharing context before using sensitive material.

Use the smallest useful stack

Start with chat and your existing document app. Add work integrations only when your account supports them and the task requires them.

3. First practice task

Turn this approved meeting outline into a clear agenda with goals, discussion questions, and action-item space. Use only the supplied details and list missing information separately.

Your setup is working when

The agenda matches the source, opens in the intended document workflow, and does not imply access to files or systems you did not provide.

Troubleshooting

Unavailable work feature? Check licensing and admin settings. Wrong account? Switch deliberately. Invented detail? Replace it with verified context.
